Frequently Asked Questions
Q. It has a slightly metallic smell and feels a little tacky. Is something wrong?
Nothing's wrong — that's what pure vitamin C actually smells and feels like.
We didn't add dyes to make it look prettier, fragrance to mask the scent, or silicones to make it glide on more easily. Every one of those would have compromised the purity of the formula. What you're smelling is ascorbic acid at full strength, doing exactly what it's supposed to do.
It's a small trade-off. We think it's worth it.
Q. When and how should I use it?
ILUTINE uses pure British-sourced vitamin C — not a chemically modified derivative — which means it's potent. A few notes to get the most out of it:
Start slow if your skin is sensitive. Mix 1–2 drops into your moisturizer for the first few uses, then gradually increase. Our formula has completed low-irritation testing, but pure vitamin C is powerful and your skin deserves a gentle introduction.
Use it at night. Vitamin C is sensitive to light, heat, and oxygen. Evening application gives it the best environment to work. If you do use it during the day, sunscreen is non-negotiable.
Let it absorb fully before bed. Apply after your regular skincare and give it a few minutes — otherwise it may transfer to your pillowcase.
Be consistent. Results come from routine, not from a single application.
Q. The product description says “dailyuse,” but the images mention a 28-day program. It’s confusing.
One vial (7 ml) is designed for daily use and
typically lasts about 7 days. Therefore, a set of 4 vials equals a 28-day
program. The premium set contains 5 vials, allowing for more flexible and
extended use.
Q. Why should I use it within 7 days of activation?
Because that's when it's at full strength.
Once you press the cap and activate the vitamin C, oxidation begins — it's unavoidable chemistry. Our packaging blocks light to slow it down as much as possible, but after about 10 days you may notice discoloration, which means potency is dropping.
Tip: Store your activated ampoule in the refrigerator and you can roughly double its usable life.
Q. Why a 4-week program?
Because that's how skin actually works.
Your skin runs on a 28-day renewal cycle. New cells formed in the basal layer take about 14 days to reach the surface, and another 14 days before they're shed.
Rather than guessing, we built the program around that cycle. Four weeks isn't a marketing number — it's one full turnover of your skin.
Q. How should I store the product?
Vitamin C is sensitive to light, heat, and oxygen.
We recommend storing the product in a cool place, even before opening.
Refrigerated storage can help maintain freshness for a longer period.
